Maxgeo and ALS are collaborating to deliver smarter, automated assay workflows by integrating lab systems with geological data, driving smarter decisions for the mining industry.

maxgeo and ALS are working closely to continuously improve and expand the integration between laboratory systems and geological data management. This partnership is focused on delivering smarter, more automated workflows that reduce manual effort, improve data accuracy, and accelerate turnaround times.

By aligning development roadmaps and sharing feedback from mutual clients, both teams are committed to evolving the API integration to support more advanced features and deeper automation, ensuring that the solution grows with the needs of the exploration and mining industry.

Streamlining Sample Dispatch: DataShed5 Integration with ALS Webtrieve™

Our collaboration with ALS has delivered a powerful enhancement to DataShed5, seamless integration with ALS via their Webtrieve™ API. From version 3.2 onwards, DataShed5 users can now submit Sample Dispatches directly to ALS without the need for email-based communication.

What’s New

The Sample Dispatch extension in DataShed5 supports direct submission to ALS Webtrieve™. This integration eliminates manual steps, reduces errors, and accelerates the dispatch process—ensuring your processing instructions reach the lab faster and with greater accuracy.

Key Benefits:

  • Instant Submission: No more emailing dispatch instructions or sample lists—everything is submitted instantly via the ALS Webtrieve™ API.
  • Simplified Workflow: Once your dispatch and sample list are prepared, submission is just a click away.
  • Template Selection: If ALS has configured multiple Client Profile Templates (CPTs) for your account, you can easily select the appropriate one during submission.
  • Automated Tracking: Upon successful submission, an ALS workorder number is automatically returned and recorded in DataShed5 for easy tracking.

Closing The Loop: Seamless Integration Between Lab and Geoscientific Data

To complete the full sample lifecycle, maxgeo’s Automatic Assay Loader (AAL) can be configured to automatically retrieve and import assay results from an email or file location directly into your DataShed5 database.
Using ALS’s standard maxgeo assay file layout, AAL ensures that incoming assay files are validated, parsed, and loaded without manual intervention. This means:

  • No more manual downloads or uploads
  • Consistent data formatting and validation
  • Faster turnaround from lab to database
  • End-to-end automation from dispatch to data availability

This integration empowers exploration and mining teams with real-time access to lab results, enabling faster decision-making and improved operational efficiency.

How it Works

The integration between maxgeo’s DataShed5 and ALS Webtrieve™ represents a major step forward in laboratory data management. By automating the dispatch process, enabling almost real-time submission and tracking, and closing the loop with automated assay imports via maxgeo’s AAL solution, clients benefit from a fully connected, end-to-end workflow.

This collaboration not only improves efficiency and data accuracy but also sets the foundation for future innovation. With maxgeo and ALS working together to expand API capabilities and automation, clients can expect even more powerful tools to streamline their operations and accelerate decision-making.

Together, we’re building a smarter, faster, and more integrated future for geoscientific data management.
