How dsCONNECT Improves Geological Workflows with Connected Data

Exploration teams often rely on multiple geological software systems to manage, analyse, and interpret data. While each system plays an important role, moving information between platforms can introduce manual handling, delays, and inconsistencies that impact overall workflow efficiency.

When systems operate in isolation, teams are often required to rely on manual exports, spreadsheet transfers, and repeated data preparation steps. This slows access to critical information and increases the risk of inconsistencies across geological and drilling datasets.

As data volumes grow and workflows become more complex, the ability to connect systems and streamline data movement has become essential for maintaining efficient and reliable operations.

A more connected approach to geological data

dsCONNECT is a desktop application designed to synchronise datashed MDS databases with a local SQL Server Express environment. This allows organisations to perform controlled data extraction and replication, validating geological and drilling datasets locally for high-performance access.

The local database can be deployed on a company server, laptop, or other approved device depending on organisational requirements. Once deployed, it can be exposed through standard ODBC and API interfaces, enabling direct connectivity with applications such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS, QGIS, Micromine, Surpac, and ioGAS.

By decoupling cloud data storage from application-level consumption, dsCONNECT reduces latency, eliminates manual data handling, and ensures a consistent, standardised dataset across resource modelling and GIS workflows.

Flexible and practical workflow capabilities

Beyond its core data synchronisation capability, dsCONNECT provides a range of tools designed to support flexible, efficient, and collaborative geological workflows.

These include:

  • Flexible configuration options, allowing users to build custom layouts using user-defined queries
  • Efficient export of data to Excel, CSV, or Access databases for downstream analysis and reporting
  • Collaborative configuration sharing via JSON, enabling consistent setups across teams
  • Reliable data pipelines supported by built-in scheduling, connection testing, and mxAPI configuration
  • Preconfigured layouts for Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and ioGAS, with the ability to extend and customise for additional applications

These capabilities enable teams to adapt dsCONNECT to their specific operational requirements while maintaining consistency and control across environments.

Improving efficiency across geological workflows

By enabling structured, controlled access to validated geological and mining data, dsCONNECT helps reduce the friction typically associated with multi-system workflows. Teams benefit from reduced manual handling, faster access to reliable datasets, and improved consistency across applications.

This supports more efficient geological interpretation, modelling, and GIS workflows, while reducing the operational overhead associated with data movement and transformation.

Connecting Geological Data for Better Outcomes

As geological workflows continue to evolve, the ability to connect systems and streamline data access is becoming increasingly important. dsCONNECT provides a structured approach to integrating geological data across platforms, enabling more efficient, consistent, and scalable workflows.

By combining controlled data replication with flexible connectivity options, it helps organisations move away from fragmented data handling toward a more connected and reliable operational environment.
